Keys View is located on the crest of the Little San Bernardino Mountains. It is a popular spot that offers panoramic views of the Coachella Valley. Visitors have a chance to see the San Andreas Fault and the Signal Mountain in Mexico from this site.

  • An easy drive through Joshua Tree National Park will take you to Keys View, one of the great desert vistas in the West. The panorama includes Mount San Jacinto, Mount San Gorgonio, Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley, the San Andreas Fault, Indio, and the Salton Sea. On rare, extremely clear days, you can make out Signal Mountain in Mexico, more than 90 miles distant.
  • A paved, 200-yard loop trail is found at Keys View, but after you've walked it and admired the vista, go for a longer trek up to Inspiration Peak. Less than a mile's hike from Keys View but several hundred feet higher, Inspiration Peak, at 5,559 feet in elevation, provides an even more impressive view. The trail begins on the north side of the Keys View parking lot.
  • Time your trip for early in the day when the air quality is usually at its best. The days immediately following a winter storm often provide the best clarity.
