You won't see too many hikers on the route to Dog Canyon. At 6,400 feet, this destination is tucked fairly high up in the the park's grassy terrain.

  • Through Dog Canyon, take the Indian Meadows Nature Loop for a half mile and then hike up to Lost Peak for 6.4 miles.
  • The Lost Peak hike is strenous with an elevation gain of 1,500 feet, but worth it for the outstanding views.
  • Another hike out of Dog Canyon is to the Marcus Overlook on a 4.5-mile trail by following the Bush Mountain Trail for 2.3 miles to the ridge of West Dog Canyon.
