Through Dog Canyon, take the Indian Meadows Nature Loop for a half mile and then hike up to Lost Peak for 6.4 miles.
The Lost Peak hike is strenous with an elevation gain of 1,500 feet, but worth it for the outstanding views.
Another hike out of Dog Canyon is to the Marcus Overlook on a 4.5-mile trail by following the Bush Mountain Trail for 2.3 miles to the ridge of West Dog Canyon.
