Located within footsteps of the Shark Valley Visitor Center, the Bobcat Boardwalk Trail provides scenic views of the typical Everglade sawgrass sloughs and tropical hardwoods. This particular area happens to be lush with cattails, willows and a variety of other Everglade plant life depicted on the interpretive signs. The trail is actually a boardwalk over a marsh. By arriving early in the morning, you'll have a better chance at seeing wildlife along this busy well-worn walkway.
This trail is a good accompaniment to the loop road that leads to the fifty-foot wildlife observation tower that provides a 360-degree panoramic view into the sawgrass prairie.
Directions: From Miami, FL, Travel west for 30 miles along U.S. Highway 41. Shark Valley is on the left, adjacent to the Miccosukee Indian Valley. From the visitor center, hike down the tram road about 100 yards to the trailhead / boardwalk.
