This trail leads northward then westward along a steep cliff south of Crater Lake. It provides close-up views of the Phantom Ship formation.

This short trail to a Crater Lake overlook begins along East Rim Drive between Vidae, west, and Dutton, east, Ridges. The route ascends 275 feet from the roadway to Phantom Ship Overlook then contours westward a short distance to the base of the northeastern ridge of Applegate Peak. Take special care along this portion of the route as steep cliffs lie beneath the track.

Directions: From Annie Spring Entrance Station, Follow the park road past the Mazama Campground to East Rim Drive turn right and drive four miles from Park Headquarters to the Sun Notch Trailhead.
