This trail leads one and a half miles along the rim of Crater Lake to the memorial for Wesley Hillman, who found the lake in 1853.

The Discovery Point Trail leads northwestward from the Rim Village parking area. The trail begins at an elevation of 7,050 feet and gains no more than 100 feet along its route. From the trailhead it contours the rim of Crater Lake nearly one and a half miles. Most of the route parallels West Rim Drive.

Directions: From Annie Spring Entrance Station, Drive northward into the park 4 miles to Rim Drive. Turn left on to West Rim Drive and travel 2 miles to Rim Village Road. Turn right and drive a short distance to the trailhead.
