This trail forms a three and a half mile loop around Chimney Rock. It ascends 550 feet to a ridge from the parking area. Once upon this ridge views of Capitol Reef and the Waterpocket Fold with Chimney Rock complete a panorama. Pieces of petrified wood are visible along the route, but visitors should remember that it is a federal crime to remove them. This trail is rated as strenuous by the Park Service.
Directions: From Capitol Reef Visitor Center, Drive west along Highway 24 3 miles to the Chimney Rock Parking Area.
