This trail leads two miles round trip to Hickman Bridge on the northern bank of the Fremont River. It is considered moderately difficult by the Park Service.

The track leading to Hickman Bridge begins along Highway 24 a mile and a half east of the visitor center. The elevation of this trailhead is approximately 5,320 feet. From this point the track follows the northern bank of the Fremont River for a short distance before switching back and climbing the reef. The trail ascends three hundred feet in the next three quarters of a mile to Hickman Bridge. Signposts along this trail provide descriptions of the surrounding natural features. Directions: From Capitol Reef Visitor Center, Drive eastward on Highway 24 approximately 1.5 miles to the Hickman Bridge Trailhead.
