The quiet Chukar Trail is suitable for new and intermediate hikers. A 2.2-mile round-trip, the trail gains about 5,960 feet of elevation and drops 500 before reaching the Gunnison River.

  • Very heavy foot and horse traffic, and weekend paddlers carrying gear to the nearby put-in can make this trail a busy one. Off-season though hikers usually have this trail to themselves.
