It's not a terribly long hike, but Dodson Ranch Trail can be arduous, particularly because of its exposure to the scorching Texas sun. Keep covered as you climb 2,000 feet to Dodson Ranch and Dodson Spring. The trailhead begins at Juniper Canyon and continues 3.6 miles to Juniper Draw. At Fresno Creek drainage, one mile farther, water may be available.

  • There are two trailheads—one at each end so you could have one person park at one end and the other park at the other end and make it a 9.9-mile, one-way hike.
