Horse Mountain Trail is the path along an abandoned fire tower. The trail is about 1.5 miles long and offers good views of the surrounding area. It travels through a mixed hardwood forest to an elevation of 1,588. There is no water along this trail nor access to other trails.

Directions: From Matagamon Gate, Baxter State Park, This area is located in the desolate northeastern area of the park. After passing the gate, travel the park road west about .75 mile. The trail begins on the south side of the road.

Elevation: 1,588 feet

Elevation Gain: 500 feet
