Begin the blue-blazed Owl Trail from the Katahdin Stream Campground located a few miles north of Abol Campground on the northwestern stretch of Park Tote Road. The trail is steep, rocky and difficult to negotiate. You will have to cross the Katahdin Stream, however, you will be rewarded with views of Katahdin Stream Falls. Traveling in a spruce forest, the first significant lookout is 3.2 miles with the summit just .10 mile up the trail. Elevation at Owl Summit is 3,736. You can expect to hike at least 2.5 hours.

Directions: From Millinocket, ME, Travel approximately 15 miles north on SR 11 to reach the Togue Pond Gate. Bear left and travel about 7 - 9 miles to the Katahdin Stream Campground.
