Starting Point: Downtown Pinedale

Ending Point: Trails End Campground, just northeast of Fremont Lake.

Road Conditions: All 16 miles are paved road. There are some steep sections, and many curves. Be aware that Skyline Drive is a narrow road.

FACILITIES: Gas stations are located in Pinedale. There is a visitor's information center located at Elkhart Trailhead. (no facilities are available at this visitor's center) Facilities at Trail's End Campground include drinking water, picnic tables, refuse container, trailer accessibility, public corrals, and toilets.

SPECIAL Attractions: The Museum of the Mountain Man is located approximately 1 mile along this route. Between Pinedale and Trail's End Campground are scenic overlooks marked with signs. Views from these overlooks are of Long Lake, Fremont Lake, Halfmoon Lake, the Wyoming Range, and the Wind River Range. You will pass roads to both Fremont and Halfmoon Lakes.

Along the route, you will also pass near Fremont Lake Campground, Halfmoon Lake Campground and Trail's End Campground. There are commercial resorts located on both Fremont and Halfmoon Lakes.

NATURAL SETTING: This drive begins out of Pinedale, where the plains are covered in sagebrush. As you go up in elevation, you will see aspen and pine trees. Some stops along this route offer good views of the Wind River Range and area lakes.

Directions: From Pinedale, Drive north on Skyline Drive.
