Game Lake Trail is nine miles long and offers backpacking, botanical observation, interpretive opportunities, wildlife observation, motor biking, horseback riding, and wildflower viewing.

Game Lake Trail offers good views of the Illinois River drainage and on the upper end of trail there are some picturesque old pine and wild growing azalea and darlingtonia. A small creek, which is the lake outlet, trickles through a grassy meadow dotted with a variety of wildflowers. Game Lake itself is a shallow pond with hundreds of orange-bellied newts. The Silver Fire burn of 1987 can also be seen from the trail. Water and campsites are scarce.

Directions: From Gold Beach, Travel south on Hwy. 101 to second Hunter Creek exit. Follow Hunter Creek Road (county road 635 turns into Forest Service Road 3680) for several miles to Forest Service Road 400. Continue on 400 about five miles to trailhead.

Distance: 9.0 miles

Difficulty: Moderate/Strenuous
