Bear Flat Trail (#3301) is a difficult 6.9 mile hike at an elevation of 4,720 feet. This trail goes through the upper portion of the French Pete drainage and around Olallie Mountain. Make a day loop trip or a two-day hike. Just after leaving the Olallie Trail hikers will pass through open grassy meadows. The trail is obscure so be alert and watch carefully for old blazes and use a compass. This trail offers solitude.
The trail ends on the French Pete Trail #3311, 1.5 miles west of the Pat Saddle Trailhead.
Directions: From Blue River, Travel east on Hwy. #126 for 4 miles, turn right on Rd. 19 (Aufderheide Forest Drive) and follow it for 3 miles to Cougar Dam. At the Dam turn left onto Rd 1993 for 14 miles to Pat Saddle Trailhead on the right. Park at the trailhead and follow Olallie Trail #3529 for 3.5 miles, Bear Flat Trail is on the right.
