Opal Creek Trail is a moderate to difficult 3 mile hike at an elevation of 1,900 feet. This trail travels through old-growth forest with western hemlock, Douglas fir and second growth. There are numerous falls and pools that are deep and translucent. The clear water of Opal pool is a highlight.

Directions: From Detroit, Travel north on French Creek Road #2223 for about 4 miles to junction with Road #2207. Turn right onto #2207 and at 10 miles, Opal Lake Trailhead is on the right.

Elevation: 1,900 feet

Ending Elevation: 3,200 feet

Elevation Gain: 1,300 feet

Difficulty: Moderate/Strenuous
