Horse Lake Trail provides access to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), and several possible loops past pristine lakes and through old growth mountain hemlock forest. Mosquitoes are a bit hungry early in the summer.
Note: The trail enters the Three Sisters Wilderness Area shortly after leaving the trailhead. Wilderness Permits are required for both day-use and overnight travel in the Wilderness from Memorial Day Weekend until Oct. 31. Permits are available at the trailhead.

Directions: From Bend, Horse Lake Trail begins from Elk Lake Trailhead, located 33 miles west of Bend on Century Drive. Northwest Forest Pass required.
