Red Rock Parkway leads to Red Rock Canyon and provides the best example of Waterton's abrupt "mountain meets the prairie landscape." It's also an excellent stretch for wildlife viewing. From the visitor center, the 15-kilometer-long (nine-mile-long) road winds alongside Blakiston Creek up the Blakiston Valley, with numerous pullouts, picnic areas, plaques, and displays en route. Wildflowers in June transform the rolling grasslands into a stunning kaleidoscope. At road's end, a short (0.7 kilometer/0.4 mile) self-guided trail loops around the canyon where a stream has cut through layers of colorful sedimentary rock. A two-kilometer (1.2-mile) trail extension leads to Blakiston Falls and its beautiful cascade.
