Named for a snow-filled crevice on its northeast face that forms a distinct cross, the mountain towers 14,000 feet over Rocky Mountain National Park.

  • One of Colorado's Fourteeners, Mount Holy Cross reached 14,005 feet, and is a strenuous 12-mile round-trip hike.
  • From I-70 take exit 171 into the town of Minturn on Highway 24. About five miles after exiting I-70 turn right when you see a sign for Tigiwon Road. The trailhead is at the end of this (rough) road.
