Truly man's best friend, Shep was a loyal companion to a Montana sheepherder who fell ill in 1936. As the story goes, Shep stood faithfully by his master's hospital door, and when the man died and was sent back East for a proper family burial, Shep waited patiently for his owner's return. A bronze replica of Shep stands tall today, honoring the sweet dog who never lost hope that his master would one day return.
