Surfers and kiteboarders will rejoice that this excellent spot is a mere 15 minutes out of the bustle of Port Moresby, the country's capital. This popular spot (it even has its own board riders club) has a shallow lagoon and an offshore reef break about a third of a mile out. This main barrier reef stretches along the southern seaboard all the way to Milne Bay Province. Even if you don't surf or kitesurf, the pleasant cove is a safe and mellow jaunt out of the city, and you'll find outrigger canoes and even beach cricket here.
