Gardner's Basin is a stone's throw from Atlantic City's flashy hotels and casinos, but also a world away. Hugging the Atlantic Coast, the basin is a great place to take a deep breath of ocean air, explore the area's fascinating marine life, and eat some of the freshest seafood along the Atlantic coast. A top attraction is the Ocean Life Center (also known as The Atlantic City Aquarium), which is home to more than 100 species of fish and other marine creatures. Tour company Atlantic City Cruises offers four different daily cruises—a morning cruise along the Atlantic Coast; a Dolphin Watching Adventure cruise; a late-afternoon cruise exploring the ocean, inlet, and back bay; and a happy-hour cruise. For lunch or dinner, visitors should check out The Flying Cloud Café, which serves up crowd pleasers such as Clams Casino, steamers, and fried shrimp and features live music on summer weekends. Two other popular spots are the Back Bay Ale House, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Lobster Shanty, which offers the freshest seafood in the city.
