Opened in 1912 as an exclusive men's club, the Knife & Fork is now Atlantic City's oldest restaurant and perhaps its most famous. Hailed as the go-to spot for its steak and seafood, the old-school eatery that served spirits during Prohibition maintains its original elegance while introducing welcome modern touches such as an expansive bar area with an enclosed porch, two plasma televisions, and an intimate dining area. An extensive menu with meat, seafood, and vegetarian options cooked on a wood-fired grill is only part of the allure at the Knife & Fork, which also boasts a 10,000-bottle wine cellar. New Jersey Monthly magazine praised the restaurant as "a feat of entrepreneurial imagination and daring bolstered by hospitality know-how and culinary care." The Knife & Fork is open every day of the week, with dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Reservations are recommended.
