An international conservation effort has kept development off of this stunning and pristine beach, famous as a loggerhead turtle nesting site. Also called Turtle Beach, it's one of the last remaining major breeding sites on the Mediterranean for the turtles and has been declared a protected area by the Turkish government. Strict guidelines are set up for visitors, including no distracting lights at night, no nighttime visitors during the summer months, and no sunbathers behind the line of wooden stakes, so as not to disturb potential nests. Despite these limitations, travelers flock to the gorgeous beach, which is backed by green hills and tall reeds of a river delta. There are also spectacular cliff-top temple-tombs soaring above on the opposite shores of the river. Parts of the beach do receive bus and boat service, so it's easy to get to.
