Tallinn boasted one of the most powerful and strongest defense systems in Northern Europe. The town wall was then three meters thick and 16 meters high, stretching four kilometers around the city, and connecting 46 defense towers. Today, two kilometers of the original wall and 26 of the towers remain intact. The Nunna, Sauna, and Kuldjala medieval towers, and the portion of the wall that connects them, are among the few towers open to tourists.
