Out winemaker Mark Lyon is finally being "discovered" even though this vineyard harks back to 1825, when the Franciscan fathers of nearby mission San Francisco Solano, assisted by local native Americans, first cleared and planted land for the first vines. Lyon's unconventional techniques help fashion magnificent wines (particularly Bordeaux varietals) that showcase each vineyard's unique terroir (soil, microclimate, etc.). Sebastiani's exquisitely renovated colonnaded stone winery hosts historical tours, trolley tours, art exhibits, educational "sensory" wine seminars, concerts, cooking demonstrations, and more. You can also opt to stay in the historical Sebastiani family stone villa, which was handmade by one man in 1947 and offers sweeping views of Sonoma.
