The "boat" of the famed Queen Emma Bridge, affectionally refered to as the "Swinging Old Lady" (Nathan Borchelt)

The Queen Emma Bridge connects the two sides of Willemstad, Punda and Otrabanda. The bridge, which swings open to allow ships to pass, also serves as a pedestrian walkway.

  • It's almost impossible to miss this remarkable bridge, affectionately nicknamed "The Swinging Old Lady." And yes, you can get "trapped" on it when it swings out to let boats pass through St. Anna Bay.
  • There's a ferry just north of the bridge that runs frequently between Punda and Otrabanda when the bridge is in use.
