This is the most heavily visited wilderness entrance in the Indian Peaks, with literally thousands of visitors in the area on any given summer weekend. Jean Luning Trail can be reached from the Long Lake Parking lot or by taking the .6 mile Long Lake Cut-off from Niwot Picnic Area. The trail joins Pawnee Pass Trail #907, providing a 2.2 miles loop around Long Lake. Niwot Ridge Trail branches off of the Jean Luning Trail.

Directions: From Ward, Take Brainard Lake Road (CR #102) to the Lost Lake Trailhead.
