Better known as The 27 Waterfalls, the Damajaqua Cascades are a designated natural monument about 30 minutes by car southwest of Puerto Plata. A visitors center at the entrance has a restaurant, restrooms, and a gift shop.

  • The most enjoyable way to experience the falls is with a jeep safari tour booked through the activity desk at your hotel, which includes transportation to the Damajaqua River and an English-speaking guide.
  • Kids as young as eight are allowed to go to the first waterfall, but swimming, sliding, and jumping from the cliffs into the natural pools is more suitable for teens and adults.
  • Wear a swimsuit and sneakers. Bring a towel, but leave jewelry and other valuables in your hotel's safe.
You'll be wearing a helmet and life jacket, but your adrenaline will surge nonetheless when you take the plunge at the first waterfall. Guides at this natural monument are mandatory, and tours start with a hike along an interpretive trail from the
