  • Go early in the morning for the best views. Clouds begin gathering below the mountaintop by noon.
  • Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor), a statue of Jesus with outstretched arms—similar to the one in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil—dominates the summit. Young locals hang out near the statue offering to take photos with your camera. Tip them, if you accept their assistance.
  • Outfitters like Iguana Mama offer guided tours that start at sea level and goes through the dense forest to the peak of the mountain.
