Maui has been perpetually in search of a gay nightclub ever since their last bona fide LGBT bar closed in the '90s. The closest thing they've come to is "alternative" nights at various bars, restaurants, and clubs, and the calendar of places and nights seems to change with the blowing of the tradewinds. The latest chapter in gay nightlife on Maui is the gay Easy Sundays (a.k.a. as "Ladies and Boys Night Out") at Ocean's. Housed in what was once a Tony Roma's, this brand new bar has been spruced up to look like more of a local live music venue than a steak house, and the gay-friendly management welcomes the queers with open arms. Just don't expect too many others flying the rainbow flag on other days of the week.
