This small but enthusiastic museum is dedicated to educating the public about the whales of the San Juan Islands. Perfectly sized for young children, the entire museum can be seen in 30-45 minutes, but there's enough to keep you busy if you linger longer. Check out a 30-minute video on Pacific Northwest orcas, take a leisurely look at the collection of whale skeletons and other models and artifacts, get to know the whales currently living in the area and learn more about the efforts to preserve them in the Gallery of Whales, or listen to the songs of different whale species in the Whale Phone Booth. A gift shop offers many souvenirs and other whale paraphernalia, and all proceeds go toward whale research and education.
