To the northwest of Frederiksted, Butler Bay is the permanent resting place for a collection of five shipwrecks that together range in depth from 20 feet down to 110 feet. The ships have become reefs in their own rights, hosting years of coral growth and a healthy population of fish. Blackbar soldierfish lurk in the shadows and overhangs, while queen angelfish graze nonchalantly on the algae covering the superstructures. The wrecks sit close enough together that a speedy diver could cover them all in one dive, but why? Better to take it easy and spread the experience over two relaxing dives.
