The park's most famous feature, Green Gables, is the house that inspired the setting of Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic novel Anne of Green Gables. Once owned by cousins of Montgomery, the house has been restored to portray the period setting described in the novel. Visitors can tour the pretty wooden farmhouse and walk the property trails where interpretive signs highlight some of Montgomery's favorite woodland haunts. A visitor center is on-site, along with exhibits about farming and the history of Cavendish. In addition, brief presentations, guided walks, and even campfire programs are hosted. A picnic-style café and a gift shop are on-site.
