The northern terminus of the Star Trail is accessible from Italian Creek Road, 759. The trailhead lies at approximately 11,830 feet. From this elevation the trail leads into the South Italian Creek drainage. The trail climbs and descends many times along its length. During the last two miles Star Trail makes its final descent into the Trail Creek valley. From trailhead to trailhead the length of Star Trail is approximately eight miles. Star Trail is often traveled for its excellent scenery.

Directions: From Almont, Travel six miles northeast of Almont on the Taylor River Road, 742, to Spring Creek Road, 744. Turn left on to Spring Creek Road and drive nine miles north to Rocky Brook Road, 748. Drive four miles east on Rocky Brook Road to Star Trailhead.
