An expansive park housing more than 2,500 animals, birds, and reptiles, Singapore Zoo is one of the biggest and best in the world. It has been recognized as a top-class family attraction. Its open-zoo concept—where animals that are not dangerous are kept in their enclosure by moats concealed by vegetation—is also impressive. A regular feeding schedule and a number of shows will help you make the most out of your visit, so plan your trip around the elephant bathing; the Splash Safari sea lion show; and the feeding of the komodo dragons, chimpanzees, and giraffes. Those who arrive early (9 a.m.) can take part in the Jungle Breakfast. This begins with the elephant bathing (diners are also permitted to feed these magnificent mammals with pieces of fruit) before adjourning to the Ah Meng Restaurant, where breakfast is served as the mischievous orangutans fool around in the background.
