Jurong Bird Park has been one of Singapore's premier family attractions since it opened in January 1971. The four giant aviaries on this 20.2-hectare sight are far removed from the cramped cages that you find in many wildlife reserves. Not only do these magnificent walk-through aviaries let visitors get close to the birds, they also allow the birds to fly freely and closely mimic behavior in their natural habitats. The highlight is the largest walk-in aviary in the world, complete with giant waterfall and thousands of vivid African birds. Visitors young and old also thrill at the chance to see penguins, 92 species of parrots, toucans, and hornbills. Feeding times and shows like "Birds 'n' Buddies" and "Birds of Prey" will keep even the youngest family member entertained. The former stars some of the parks' birds and their larger-than-life costumed counterparts like Pedro the Pelican.
