Laughing Bird Caye is a beautiful Belizean isle situated on the western side of Victoria Channel, only 11 miles off the coast from Placencia Village in the Stann Creek District of Belize. Laughing Bird Caye is the southernmost island in the central lagoon of the Belize Barrier Reef.

  • Although there's some shade, bring a beach umbrella, along with a picnic lunch and drinks.
  • Laughing Bird Caye, a small islet about 11 miles offshore of Placencia, is a good day trip for families. Kids and adults enjoy the sugar-soft beach as well as the easy snorkeling just off-shore.
  • This is a national park and a World Heritage site. Tell kids not to take anything from the island.
