The Loltun Caves are a massive cave system southeast of Merida that have been outfitted with lights along a two-kilometer (1.25-mile) pathway. Hour-long guided tours are required, during which you can observe impressive natural columns and formations, plus paintings and other artifacts left by pre-historic peoples.
