Situated on the northern slope of Victoria Peak, the Zoological and Botanical Gardens boast attractive sculptures and fountains in addition to animals and plants. When it comes to zoology, the gardens are renowned for their captive breeding program, which strives to help save endangered species. For families this translates as a chance to see rare animals like the Bornean orangutan and the golden lion tamarin. With 40-plus enclosures—home to around 70 mammals, 400 birds and 50 reptiles, and more than 1,000 species of plant—a visit to the Zoological and Botanical Gardens will keep you occupied for hours. Other highlights among the well-cared-for animals include ring-tailed lemur and siamang, while the Burmese python and Chinese alligator are also big hits.
