The Chamisa trail traverses rolling meadows as well as large stands of evergreens.

Being only six miles from the plaza, the Chamisa trail is an easy and enjoyable 4.75 mile hike.

Directions: From Paseo de Peralta, Go north to Washington Ave. Turn away from the plaza heading north on Washington Avenue to ski Basin rd. Take the Ski Basin rd. 5.6 miles to a wide canyon with two large parking areas on the left and right sides of the rd. Park on the north side. Look around for the trailhead and follow it to big Tesuque creek.
