This izakaya, orJapanese pub, is where laidback Japanese premier Koziumi took George W. Bush for dinner on his first visit, but don't hold that against the gay-friendly place! Gonpachi is a lively, atmospheric venue with several rooms in which staff emit great, initially disconcerting shouts of welcome as each new set of diners arrive. Traditional delights, from rolled omelet to salad of clam and buckwheat sprouts, are delivered to the table as they become ready.
