Close to shore and fairly shallow, Chankanaab Reef is one of the best areas in Cozumel to sample snorkeling for the first time. At its deepest point—70 feet—is a variety of fish and brightly-colored coral. Don't be surprised to find snapper, turtles, grouper, and butterfly fish swimming at your side. Because of its accessibility and close proximity to shore, Chankanaab Reef is a popular training site for novice scuba divers and night divers.
