From the second floor of the very gay Room Mate Oscar Hotel, Gift Restaurant overlooks the hustle and bustle of Chueca. The main dining room is a brightly lit, almost generic affair, where the tables are generally occupied by an assortment of polished, slightly more mature gay gents, many of whom are guests of the hotel. The menu at Gift highlights modern Spanish cuisine with a nod to the classics, and the food itself is perfectly fine, if not particularly mind-blowing. Ditto for the service, which is adequate, if unremarkable. Those things aside, Gift is a restaurant you visit because of its location at the crossroads of Chueca and the unique opportunity it provides to mingle with an upscale cache of gay men in a definitively gay-welcoming environment. Nothing more, nothing less.
