This is a moderately difficult, beautiful hike through varied terrain. Look for a sign five miles outside of Seward that directs hikers to the Lost Lake Subdivision and the beginning of the trail. The trail is seven miles one way and has an elevation gain of 1,820 feet. The first four miles lead through dense spruce forest before emerging above the treeline. Great off-trail hiking opportunities wait at the lake. The route remains popular in winter.
