This is the most popular beach on Koh Samui, with everything from small bungalows to five-star hotel rooms for rent. Also called Had Chaweng, the town fronts a nearly four-mile-long stretch of sand. Chaweng Beach Road is where most of the action takes place with fun bars, pumping nightclubs, fine restaurants, and good shopping all bundled together. There's even a spectacular golf course (Santiburi Samui Country Club). The waters here are calm and safe, so if you want to stay wet, Chaweng has nearly every water sport imaginable: jet-skiing, banana-boat riding, waterskiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, parasailing, and kayaking, and plenty of dive shops. Just be aware that at night the place may not be so family friendly due to boisterous drinkers and the odd prostitute.
