One of the city's foremost gay venues with a downstairs bar and terrace, and an upstairs karaoke area with great views overlooking the soi. The bar itself is an "island" around which the regulars tend to sit. Heterosexual and gay tourists sit outside on one of The Balcony's two verandas. Both Western and Thai food is available and it is good and cheap. They offer plenty of activities, including gay movie nights, talent shows, bingo, and so on. Happy hours every night between 7 and 9 p.m., and late night buy-1-get-1-free happy hours between 1 a.m. and closing time at 3 a.m. Regulars on the Bangkok gay scene tend to divide up between being loyal to The Balcony or to its rival, the Telephone Pub but they are both large, fun places with a big ex-pat clientele. FYI: Dame Edna is said to be a big "Telephone" fan.
