This beach has been a popular spot ever since a colony of African penguins settled here in 1982, when they started breeding in small inlets (they number in the hundreds now). You can swim at the main Boulders Beach, which many local do, but the best place to view the cute penguins is from the wheelchair-accessible raised boardwalk overlooking Foxy Beach. Here you can get within a few feet of the birds, which mate in January and nest from February to August. A very South African experience.
