• Eccentric ex-patriot Peggy Guggenheim lived in Venice for decades until her death in 1979. Her Venice home has become a museum housing her collection of modern art, considered one of the greatest such collections in the world. She was part of the same Guggenheim family for which the museum in New York City is named—that's her uncle's impressive collection.
• The collection brings together Cubism, Surrealism, Abstract Art, and Abstract Expressionism, and if that all sounds anything but kid-friendly, these artists— Magritte, Picasso, Pollack, Giacometti, Chagall, Miro — often hold great appeal for kids.
