• Part of Old Town, Promenade de la Treille has its own unique intrigues. It dates back to the 16th century, and until the 18th century was part of the city's defense as an observation and artillery post.
• Ever wonder where the world's longest bench might be? Look no further, it's here on Promenade de la Treille, shaded by a row of Chestnut trees. Sit down for a while and enjoy excellent people watching. At more than 120 meters long, there's sure to be a seat.
• Speaking of chestnut trees, at one end of the row is the "official tree of Geneva." Since 1818 the first bud on this particular tree has marked the start of spring, and a city official still records this momentous event each year.
