Often times restaurants with vaunted reputations and long lists of celebrity patrons don't live up to expectation, but J. Sheekey does not just meet expectations, it surpasses them. Located near Leicester Square, J. Sheekey serves up some of the best seafood in London in a sophisticated, understated environment, reminiscent of a venerable gentlemen's club. Among the best items on the menu are generally the weekly specials which take advantage of the freshest local ingredients and seafood. Word to the wise: If the fish and chips is on the list of weekly specials, by all means order it if you have any desire to find out what the traditional English favorite should actually taste like. Also be sure to make reservations as the relatively small dining room is often fully booked most nights.
